Carle Place Students Honored by Jewish Community Relations Council

Hudson Hsieh and Kerri Morgan were honored by the Jewish Community Relations Council Long Island at Adelphi University on May 7. Both students were recognized for their service and civic contributions to society. Kerri Morgan was acknowledged for her work through Key Club and Hudson Hsieh for his efforts through Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD).

Hudson is actively engaged in various service-based clubs, serving as President of SADD, Environmental Action, and Mock Trial Clubs. He dedicates considerable time to raising awareness and organizing fundraisers for important causes. Hudson also contributes as an Editor for the school newspaper and holds memberships in The National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Math Honor Society. Additionally, he volunteers for the Tourette’s Association and a suicide hotline, demonstrating his commitment to making the world a more inclusive place. Hudson’s exemplary leadership and dedication make him a true asset to the school community.

Kerri has been a Key Club officer for the past three years. She has carried out charitable fundraisers for organizations such as NYU Langone Winthrop’s Child Life program, Autism Society, Diamond Blackfan Anemia, the Children’s Tumor Foundation and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Kerri is caring, kind, and inclusive. She understands the importance of volunteering and civic responsibilities. Her versatility and inclusive leadership style has also been demonstrated through her participation on the school’s field hockey team and backstage during theatre productions. She is a model student and her positive outlook and ability to give back to her community inspires her peers.

Eighth Grade Student Recognized

Eighth grader Madison Hoppe is the winner of the Mario Mignone Award established by the American Association of Teachers of Italian. This award recognizes those that have demonstrated the qualities of a dynamic and passionate student of Italian who motivates, helps build class discussion, and brings much enthusiasm to the classroom. Madison is considered by the AATI to be a true Renaissance person of Carle Place Middle School. Auguri, Madison!

Carle Place Athletics Make the Grade

At the end of each sports season, the New York State Public High School Athletic Association honors teams and individuals that excel in the classroom as Scholar-Athletes. To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a certificate, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.00. Congratulations to the following Carle Place Scholar Athlete Teams: Girls Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Basketball, Boys Varsity Bowling, Girls Varsity Bowling, Girls Varsity Competitive Cheer and Girls Varsity Gymnastics.

MS Counselor Santoro is National Olympic Weightlifting Champion Again!

This past weekend, Middle School Counselor Rob Santoro became the 2x National Olympic Weightlifting Champion in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The two movements he competed in are:

The Snatch in which he lifted 255lbs successfully &

The Clean & Jerk where he lifted 305lbs

He took gold in both the snatch and the clean and jerk as well as the total weight lifted. He also received Best Lifter in his session. Next up for Rob is World Championships in Finland!
