Scholarships

Applications for this scholarship are available in the Guidance Office and students should return the completed application to Mrs. Gleason in the Guidance Office.   Applicants will be scheduled for an interview by a selection committee who will make the final decisions.  Last year, 21 scholarships were awarded.  Deadline for submission of completed applications is 3:30 PM, February 12, 2020. 

 

Application forms are available in the Guidance Office.  They can also be found on the school website under Carle Place Scholarships. Students may apply for any of the individual scholarships listed and should return the completed application(s) directly to Mrs. Gleason in the Guidance Office.    There are different application forms for each scholarship; therefore, students should ensure that they are submitting the correct form.   Deadline for submission of completed applications is 3:30 PM, February 12, 2020

 

These are scholarships that outside organizations send to CPHS to which students may apply directly.  These applications do not go through the Guidance Office.  Students should review the criteria and determine if they qualify.  The applications for these scholarships are available on individual websites, often indicated on the Carle Place Guidance website.  Deadlines vary so please take careful note.

Carle Place Community Scholarships 

ARTS & EDUCATION BOOSTER CLUB OF CARLE PLACE:
Two $1,000 awards each based upon an application and an interview.

BUDDY'S KINDNESS AWARD

This scholarship of $1000 is to be given to a senior who has overcome difficulties which has created a hardship or misfortune in their life. We are looking for someone who has taken the difficulty and made it into something positive; as well motivated them to do more and be better.   Nominee must be active in community service, maintain a GPA of 80% or higher and will be attending a 2 or 4 year college

 
CARLE PLACE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB GERARD F. O'CONNOR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP:Two $500.00  scholarships to seniors who have earned two varsity letters as a senior and who have earned a minimum of four total varsity letters while attending Carle Place High School. This scholarship will be awarded at the Varsity Athletic Dinner.
 

CARLE PLACE CIVIC ASSOCIATION – JOHN HESLIN LEADERSHIP AWARD:  An award of $500 to a student who demonstrates passion and leadership in either academics, athletics, school club, art, theater or religious organization.

 

CARLE PLACE CIVIC ASSOCIATION MARGE CECERE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD: This $500 scholarship will go to a student who participates in or assists in making a school event a success (i.e. homecoming, battle of the classes) or be involved in a drama production (acting, painting, stage crew, sound).  A candidate may be someone who quietly helps with activities and/or events without any questions asked.


 
CARLE PLACE CLASS OF 1962 - A $1,000 scholarship for a student who plans to major in the field of education and enter the teaching profession.

CARLE PLACE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - BARRY DENNIS LEADERSHIP, LOYALTY AND LEGACY AWARD:  A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing  a 2 or 4 year degree. They must show strong evidence of leadership and loyalty within school involvement and/or community service.  We would like to award a senior who has left a legacy at Carle Place High School.
 
CARLE PLACE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - FRED HICKS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: A $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree.  They must show strong evidence of community service and show a consistent effort and determination to succeed throughout their educational career.  Grade point average must be 80% or above.
 
CARLE PLACE EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - NEIL J. CONNOLLY RECOGNITION AWARD:  A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who is pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree.  They must have strong evidence of school involvement and /or community service and a commitment to school activities.  There must also be overall evidence of versatility in involvement along with a consistent effort and determination to make a difference at Carle Place High School.
 
CARLE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL PTSA SCHOLARSHIPTwo awards of $1,000 each to seniors who are current members of PTSA and have demonstrated a committment to improving his/her community.

CARLE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL PTSA BARRY DENNIS MAKING A DIFFERENCE SCHOLARSHIP: An award of $250 to a senior who has volunteer and community service experience.

CARLE PLACE HIGH SCHOOL SPANISH HONOR SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP:   An award of undetermined amount is given to a senior with a 90 average or better in Spanish this year. Consideration will be given to integrity, honor, responsibility, citizenship, interest and cooperation.  A 200 word essay in Spanish is required.
 
CARLE PLACE HOOK, LADDER & HOSE CO., NO. 1 (Fire Department) SCHOLARSHIP:   Two or more awards of at least $500.00 each to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education.
 

CARLE PLACE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION - CIRO MATARAZZO MEMORIAL AWARD

A $500 scholarship to a student who has made contributions to the community and plans to continue to do so.

CARLE PLACE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION - DONALD LA BOMBARD SCHOLARSHIP

A $500 scholarship to a senior who plans to enter the field of education.

CARLE PLACE TEACHERS ASSOCIATION - HANK PARIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A $500 Scholarship to a senior who plans to attend college.

CARLE PLACE TEACHERS' ASSOCIATION - SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD (NEW):  An award of $500 will go to a senior that has a positive role in Carle Place School/Community who helps mentor younger students.

EUGENE V.TIMPANO MEMORIAL MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP: An award of $750 to a senior who has participated in two or more performing arts groups and has participated in a school musical.
 
GIGI LIONE LISECKI SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:   An award of $1,500 to a senior who intends to enter the health care field.

JENNIFER DINTINO SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:   An award of $300 to a senior who, at some point in his/her educational career, was a student of English as a Second Language.

REINHOLD & HELENE ZEUSCNER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:  An award of $500 to a senior who, at some point in his/her educational career, was a student of English as a Second Language.
 
RUSHMORE'S FUTURE TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP:  A $300 scholarship to a senior who attended Rushmore School and plans to enter the field of education.

WESTBURY CARLE PLACE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP

A $500 scholarship awarded to a senior attending a New York State School with a preferred major in Business or Finance.

WESTBURY/CARLE PLACE REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE– JOHN E. KINGSTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

A $750 scholarship for a student interested in History, Government or Civic Studies.  Must have community or civic service.  Resume required.
