On Feb. 26, Carle Place’s Cherry Lane School celebrated the 100th day of school with excitement and creativity. From stacking 100 cups to counting 100 Hershey kisses, students throughout the school participated in engaging activities centered around the number 100.
To celebrate the event, kindergarten students and teachers dressed up as if they were 100 years old, wearing gray wigs, glasses and canes. They worked on special activities — imagining what their lives might look like at 100 years old, how they would celebrate their 100th birthday and what they would love to have 100 of.
First and second graders dressed up by wearing jerseys with numbers on them. In addition to their 100 day challenges, the students made math equations with multiple operations using their shirt numbers to equal 100.
One of the day’s highlights was a schoolwide dance party that took place on the 100th minute of the 100th day of school, bringing everyone together to celebrate.
By the end of the day, Cherry Lane School students were not just 100 days older — they were also 100 days smarter.
