Mission Statement

The Athletic Department at Carle Place Middle School/High School views interscholastic athletics as an opportunity for student participation in an organized, competitive, and fun environment. While the ultimate goal of athletic competition is to strive for victory, the achievement of objectives such as fair play, sportsmanship, skill acquisition, and work ethic cannot be overlooked. Longstanding traditions are founded upon the concepts of pride, respect, dedication, character and loyalty. Coaches, athletes, and parents alike must strive to ensure that the athletic teams of Carle Place represent themselves in a manner that is conducive to both competitive spirit and good sportsmanship.

Go Frogs!

Carle Place Students Team Up for Fall Sports Clinics

Elementary students from Cherry Lane School and Rushmore Avenue School teamed up with fall sports teams from Carle Place Middle School/High School on Oct. 12 and 13 for the district’s first fall sports clinics. Carle Place high schoolers on fall sports teams were invited to volunteer their time to help teach the elementary students new sports techniques.

The clinics took place during recess at the elementary schools with the goal of making sure the young students had fun while learning something new. With the help of the varsity coaches, 20-25-minute sessions were developed that were appropriate for the level the high school student-athletes were working with. From football to soccer, the elementary students got a taste of some different sports and had a great time working with the older students.

“It was so amazing to hear the feedback from the elementary students, asking if the high school athletes were coming back the next day,” said Jamie San Filippo, athletic director of the Carle Place Schools. “On the flip side, hearing how much fun the older student-athletes had giving back and being allowed to teach their skills set. We definitely have some future coaches among our high school students.”

The district would like to thank Conor Reardon and Stephen Laurino for helping organize the elementary students in each building and give a special shout out to building principals Lauren Moriarty, Catherine Silletti and Tom DePaola for allowing this great opportunity and idea to come to fruition.
